HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007!!!!
Matt and i had a great time for new years. We are in La Paz Bolivia and well we are staying at the coolest hostal ever! Its a micro brewery so you get one free beer every night you stay here and you get a free breakfest. They have dvd rooms so you can rent movies. Anyways so for New Years the hostal through a huge party! it was cool. Lots of streamera and confetty! Matt and i got pretty drunk! The one thing that was really cool was that before the party really got underway they had a inca preist kinda come in to do this blessing. Kinda! what he does is burns these packages and he says prayers and really what the idea is that he is banishing the evil spirits from the new year. It was pretty cool! After the party everyone went to a bar here and danced the night away. La Paz is probley the most sketchy place i have been. It is really unsafe for girls, guys even big groups of ppl, so i kinda want to get out of here!
They have black markets and witch markets here too. So in the witch market you can get all kinds of stuff including a lama feitus. Ewww b ut it is still interesting.
We are trying to leave here tommorow and go to argentina but its a long way so we have to figure out how to break it up. I hope matt can handle more bus rides!!!!

Thanks fpr calling yesrterday. We had a nice time. Mark and a couple of friends went to Vernon. He called from there so I know he got there safely - the roads were a little iffy. Dad is back in New York today. I think I'm going shopping. It is nice here. There is snow on the ground but it is above 0. Ilove you and miss you. Hopefully Matt won't hate the bus ride too much. Hi Tiff and Matt: That sounds like quite the new years party you had. Dan (my copilot) and I went over to my boss's villa for new years. It as a gorgeous full moon, fire works over the bay, lobster and steak, lots of drinks etc. I missed being with the family and especially being with Barb. Back in New York last night. Probably to Calgary on Friday--depending on other flight agendas. Thanks for keeping me us updated--we travel "with you". Dad

Hi Matt and Karalynn... just a quick note to say Happy New Year!! Sounds like you guys are having fun and also having interesting experiences. That's the way it goes when you're in a strange place. Just be careful though. I'm going to Cuba on Jan 15 - 22 on business but unfortunately Sherry and the kids will not be going with me this time around. Maybe nextime they will be go with me. Hey! My New Years in a nutshell; Drinks, hot tub, mostly naked snow angels. However, an Inca blessed New Years party in a Bolivian brewery makes just about any other celebration seam pedestrian by comparison. Nice!

You make us shiver with wonder when you mention busses down there. A feller living in bolivia now was a truck driver for me back in 1990. He drives a bus down there. Speaks Spanish , German, and English. If you see him say "hello". His name is John. Probably a good way to find him is to go in each depot and ask them if they have a "John".
Have a good time. I know it is hot down there but is really cool being here at home with Grandma.
